Gala Dinner @ Fundação Dr. António Cupertino Miranda
Given that we are celebrating our 10th Anniversary, we decided to prepare something truly special just for you. The semi-formal Gala Dinner will not be taking place on Sunday, as it usually does, but on Saturday, the 19th, at Fundação Dr. António Cupertino de Miranda. The Foundation was set up in 1964 and it is a private, independently financed institution, whose aims are both cultural and educational. In 1996 The Museum Paper Money was inaugurated and it is now the main attraction of this institution. Many important people have been at the Foundation’s Restaurant, such as the Royal Prince of Japan, many former governors like Jorge Sampaio and António Cavaco Silva; José Mourinho, currently Chelsea Football Club’s coach is a regular costumer.
It will be a great opportunity to gather around with new friends, make future contacts and enjoy a wonderful meal. Ranging from exquisite gastronomy to traditional music, get ready for the several surprises we have prepared for you this night! Come and enjoy this unforgettable moment!
Friday evening’s cultural program will cover five optional choices (participants will have to choose one from the five possibilities). However, there is a limited number of participants in each one. All participants will have vacancies available.
Option A) SIGHTSEEING TOUR – HISTORICAL PORTO
Due to last year’s success we decided to include once again a Sightseeing Tour in our Cultural Program, this time regarding Historical (Vintage) Porto. It will begin at Torre dos Clérigos, heading towards the Douro River mouth and including tour across some of the most beautiful Oporto’s gardens, museums and main squares and the city of Gaia.
Option B) WORLD OF DISCOVERIES – INTERATIVE MUSEUM AND THEMATIC PARK
The “WORLD OF DISCOVERIES”, unique in the country, is an interactive museum and thematic park that was inaugurated last year. It reenacts the Portuguese navigators’ odyssey throughout the immense and unknown world. It is a one of a kind opportunity that you won’t want to miss.
Option C) DOURO RIVER BY RABELO BOATS and PORTO WINE CELLARS
Rabelo boats are traditional boats that still today transport wine barrels through the Douro River. As you travel around the river in these boats, you will have the opportunity of sight the Oporto city and Vila Nova de Gaia in a privileged perspective. You will also visit the Port Wine Cellars which provides you an unforgettable experience about the port wine, its history and tradition.
Option D) SERRALVES FOUNDATION AND PARK
The Serralves Foundation’s main mission is to raise the awareness and knowledge amongst audiences from different backgrounds and age groups, in relation to contemporary art, architecture and the landscape and key issues facing society at present and in the future. In the 10th edition we decided to bring back this tour and offer the participants the opportunity to take this program once again. In addition to visiting the Foundation, participants will be able to visit the Park as well, a privileged opportunity to come into contact with nature and appreciate the wide diversity of trees and shrubs, constituted by roughly 200 species and a variety of autochthonous and ornamental exotic plants.
Option E) FC PORTO STADIUM AND MUSEUM
In the Dragão Football Stadium, the Museum of Porto’s Football Club by BMG includs the Intercontinental Cup, UEFA Cup, European Super Cup and even three pieces of the most recent trophy of National Championship or the newest Supercup of Portugal. From the origin to the eternity, the journey through the Museum marks three centuries and goes beyond time and space, in an emotional dimension guaranteed by unique episodes of a truly unparalleled history. In this program participants will have the opportunity to visit not only the Museum but also the Stadium itself.
