SIGHTSEEING TOUR – HISTORICAL PORTO

FC PORTO STADIUM AND MUSEUM
We would like to introduce you the second social program of the 11th YES Meeting, the Dragão Football Stadium and Museum. If you are a football fan, in this program you will have the opportunity to visit not only the Museum but also the Stadium itself. In the Dragão Football Stadium, the Museum of Porto’s Football Club by BMG includs the Intercontinental Cup, UEFA Cup, European Super Cup and even three pieces of the most recent trophy of National Championship or the newest Supercup of Portugal. The Stadium, built in mind for Euro 2004, is part of an exclusive number of stadiums rated five stars by UEFA. The Museum was inaugurated in 2013 and only here will you find such world acclaimed and desired objects as the Intercontinental Cup, the UEFA Cup and the European Super Cup.

The Serralves Foundation’s main mission is to raise awareness amongst audiences of different backgrounds and ages in relation to Contemporary Art, architecture and the landscape and critical issues facing society and its future. In the 11 th edition we decided to bring back this tour and offer you the opportunity to take this program once again. In addition, you will be able to visit the Park as well, a privileged opportunity to appreciate the wide diversity of trees and shrubs, constituted by roughly 200 species and a variety of autochthonous and ornamental exotic plants.
DOURO RIVER BY RABELO BOATS AND PORTO WINE CELLARS
Rabelo boats are traditional boats that still today transport wine barrels through the Douro River. As you travel around the river in these boats, you will have the opportunity of sight the Oporto city and Vila Nova de Gaia in a privileged perspective. You will also visit the Port Wine Cellars which provides you an unforgettable experience about the port wine, its history and tradition.
ROMANTIC MUSEUM OF QUINTA DA MACIEIRINHA AND GARDENS OF PALÁCIO DE CRISTAL
Located within the verdant landscapes of the gardens of Palácio de Cristal, Quinta da Macieirinha is a 19th-century mansion that was acquired by the City Council in 1972, to install there the museum. This space aims to recreate the indoor atmospheres of a wealthy house from the 19th century and provide an authentic snapshot of life in Porto, Portugal, during the 1800s, approaching the aesthetics, the manners and habitudes related to Romanticism.
With this new social program, you will also be able to visit the gardens of Palácio de Cristal and contemplate magnificent panoramic views over the river and the city.
PALÁCIO DA BOLSA
A National Monument, the Palácio da Bolsa is the property and headquarters of the Commercial Association of Porto. Designed in a neoclassical style in 1842 and situated in the historical centre, it is one of the most visited monuments with the famous Arabian Room being its major highlight.
WORLD OF DISCOVERIES – INTERATIVE MUSEUM AND THEMATIC PARK
The “WORLD OF DISCOVERIES”, unique in the country, is an interactive museum and thematic park that was inaugurated in 2014. It reenacts the Portuguese navigators’ odyssey throughout the immense and unknown world. Portugal played a leading role in this process for centuries, creating new maritime routes and circulating people, animals and plants all around the world. Here you can learn about this incredible meeting of cultures and the ambition, ideas, endeavour and innovation that made it possible. ROUTE OF “TAPAS”
This new social program allows the 11th YES Meeting Participants to taste the flavors, scents and pleasures of the Portuguese gastronomy. This walking tour gives you the chance to visit the most famous avenues and squares in downtown Porto and Ribeira and enjoy famous snacks of various places of the city. Portugal’s cuisine is as rich and varied as its landscape which makes this program one experience you don’t want to miss!
