The 4th edition of the YES Talks, entitled “And then… There were two”, will take place on the 26th April 2017, at 14h00, at Fundação Engenheiro António de Almeida, in Porto.

On the IV YES Talk, you will have the opportunity to attend lectures on the issue of Multiple Pregnancy given by Professor Alexandra Matias, Professor Enrico LoprioreDr. Teresa Castro and Dr. Carlota Rodó.

Enrico Lopriore



Professor Enrico Lopriore is the head of the Neonatology Department of the Willem Alexander Children’s Hospital of Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) and a well recognised expert on multiple pregnancy. His main areas of interest include fetal medicine,  neonatology and obstetrics. Professor Lopriore is the author of several articles on pregnancy and twins; therefore it is no surprise that his work is of the utmost relevance for the development of new fetal therapies and approaches.

Alexandra Matias


Professor Alexandra Matias is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of University of Porto and a specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, having special interest on Maternal-Fetal Medicine. She has published over 200 articles on high impact journals, many of which approaching the concept of multiple pregnancy. Her rather relevant research in this matter and the extended scope regarding therapeutic approaches are some of the reasons why this lecture is so promising.


Teresa Castro



Dr. Teresa Castro is a Biomedicine PhD Student at the Faculty of Medicine of University of Porto, in the field of twin pregnancy. She has recently finished her residency at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (São João Hospital Centre) and is now a Consultant there.
At the IV YES Talk, Dr. Teresa Castro will present the medical repercussions of multiple fetal development from a cardiac and neurological perspective.

Carlota Rodó


Dr. Carlota Rodó Rodríguez works in the Fetal Medicine Unit, Department of Obstetrics, at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital. She is also an investigator at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, in Spain.
On the 26th of April, Dr. Carlota Rodó will discuss the consequences of multiple pregnancy regarding preterm birth, providing knowledge on how to prevent and handle this issue.

To conclude your registration and secure your seat, you are required to pay the entrance fee of 3€. You will have 5 days to do so. If you fail to meet this deadline, we will attribute your seat to the next person in the waiting list.

The IV YES Talk participation fee includes:

How to get to the IV YES Talk

Excited about the IV YES Talk but you do not know how to get there? Don’t worry, we are here to help you.

The easiest option for those departing from FMUP is to use the metro:

  1. At Hospital de São João metro station, you can catch any metro (“D” line/yellow, towards Santo Ovídio);
  2. When you get to Trindade station you must change to one of the following options:
    • “A” Line (blue), towards Senhor de Matosinhos;
    • “B” Line (red), towards Póvoa de Varzim;
    • “C” Line (green), towards ISMAI;
    • “E” Line (purple), towards Aeroporto;
    • “F” Line (orange), towards Senhora da Hora;
  3. The nearest metro station is Francos. Fundação Engenheiro António de Almeida is approximately 7 minutes by foot. You can use the map below to guide you.

If you prefer to go by bus, you can use lines 201, 203, 502 or 503 and leave at António Cardoso stop.

However, if you would rather use a personal vehicle, we inform you that inside Fundação Engenheiro António de Almeida there are up to 60 free parking spaces for participants. The entry is at Rua Tenente Valadim, 325.

Don’t forget: Always validate your ANDANTE ticket when you start your travel and when you change to another line or vehicle. You must validate, at most, 10 minutes before your travel starts. For validating correctly, put your ANDANTE ticket near the validation machine. A green light will appear.
